Evidence of Work
This project for me was extremely fun and I enjoyed it thoroughly. For this project we had to build a vehicle over the course of a few weeks. For my project we made a car that was powered by rubber bands wrapped around the back axle of the car. The most difficult part of the project was trying to get the vehicle to actually go anywhere. We thought we set up our vehicle perfectly but for some reason it wouldn't move. After a while we realized that we weren't getting enough friction to get the car going. We solved this problem by putting rubber bands on the wheels because on a molecular level the rubber bands would help to grip the ground. Also, my teacher Mr. Williams suggested that we use larger back wheels but none of us had anything to use. We could have used tops of yogurt containers but, as I said earlier we didn't have enough time to eat two containers of yogurt. |

Distance vs. Time: Our distance over time was 2.6 meters in about 2.34 seconds. Velocity: The velocity of our vehicle during it's first meter was 0.83m/s and the velocity on the second meter was 0.78m/s. Velocity can be calculated by using distance over time. Spring Potential Energy: The spring potential energy is 2.95J. This can can be calculated using the formula PEspring=1/2kx^2. Gravitational Potential Energy: The formula for gravitational potential energy is GPE=mgh. Kinetic Energy: The kinetic energy of the vehicle is 0.28J. You can calculate by doing 1/2mv^2. Thermal Energy: The thermal energy for our project was 2.67J. Almost all of the potential energy was transferred into thermal energy. Friction: We used friction in our project to create traction so our vehicle would move. |

Reflection
From this project I definitely learned a lot. I feel like I need to work on staying with my group more and straying away so I can talk to my friends. I noticed that I would sometimes spend 5 minutes talking to friends where I could have used that to improve my machine and make our presentation better. But, I did help a lot during the construction of the machine. I did really have a lot of fun figuring out how to make our vehicle work.
